Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt
I'm sure you all have made this quilt since it's an oldie. I'm trying to find the easiest or quickest way to finish the edges. Any ideas you can give me? It took me about a year to piece this quilt, all was done by hand.

Re: Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt
MAny in this group are working on theirs! It's a big job! Is anyone finished to the point of doing the edging?

Re: Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt
I am very interested in the answer to this. I have a top that my Mom and her grandmother pieced in the 30's. They never finished it partly because they were one hexagon short of having enough fabric.

Re: Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt
Ha, that is why mine has been sitting for close to a year without me touching it. I'm not sure how to go about edging it. I know Denis said how he finished one - let me see if I can find the thread.

Re: Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt
Me too! and is it just me or does everyone have a different edge where on the top and bottom there is a 'pointy' finish and on the side a 'square-ish' finish. The only way I can think about it is to square off all the edges to get a straight (boring) finish.

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.Comment
